Experience the Real West!
on horseback!
---------------

For the last 46 years, it has been our pleasure to uphold the back country tradition of riding through the Canadian Rockies. Our in-town rides are ideal for those with just a day or so to catch hold of a little of the west. You can travel along the Bow River, or up onto Sulphur mountain. Our backcountry rides are perfect for people of all ages and abilities, who have a little more time to spend in the rockies with us. We have something for everyone, tenting or lodges from two to six days.

Leave behind the deadlines and schedules and trade them for fresh mountain air, a good horse, and a trail that leads you to one spectacular view after another. We’ll take you to the perfect spots for capturing once in a lifetime photos and viewing wildlife in its natural habitat. Or bring along a fishing rod for a chance to cast in some alpine lakes or mountain streams.

WE'RE EASY TO GET TO!

Holiday on horseback is conveniently located and easily accessible from anywhere in the world. Banff, with its fabulous back country trails and wilderness, is just 75 miles from the city of Calgary and its well-served international airport. Getting to Banff for your riding adventure is a scenic two hour drive or bus ride from the airport. Click here for detailed access information.

Calgary is also the home of the famous Calgary Stampede, the world's largest rodeo and western show, held every July. Plan your Holiday on horseback to connect with a visit to the Stampede!

ADVENTURES OF ALL KINDS!

Our rides are perfect for people of all ages and riding abilities. With over 300 head of horses, we'll provide you with a sturdy, sure-footed mount to match your experience. Our professional, cowboy guides will give you an inside look at western culture and provide you with enough good times to create a week full of memories.

Holiday on horseback offers a style and duration of ride to suit every taste and level of experience.

Wilderness Tenting Trips: From three days to six days. Spacious A-frame tents, fire pits, rustic rail corrals, and a large kitchen tent at each camp site. There's usually time for some exploring, fishing and even a well deserved snooze in the tall grass.

Lodge Rides: A little luxury in the backcountry. Your days are spent riding and exploring while evenings are spent in a cozy lodge. Relax by the wood stove or curl up with a blanket and a good book, we call it 'roughing it the civilized way.

Adventure Expeditions: Our most challenging and rugged tent trips. Brush up on your camp skills as new camps are established daily. These rides visit isolated areas of Banff National Park that few have an opportunity to experience.

Local Rides: For those who cannot make a longer trip, our local rides offer everything from 1 hour to full day trips in and around the Banff townsite including cookouts and covered wagon rides.

Other Holidays: Cross-country ski trips to Sundance Lodge, sleigh rides and more.

Carriage Rides: 15 minute or half hour tours are available from our downtown location as well as pick ups and drop offs at many local hotels and restaurants. Inquire about our wedding carriage package for a romantic tour around Banff.

The combination of mountain air and a day out on the trail usually stirs up a mean appetite, and our cooks are ready to meet the challenge. Breakfast and dinner are sit-down affairs, and lunch is served picnic style along the trail. Belly up to the table and enjoy the fresh, mouth watering, ranch-style menu. But, don't forget to leave room for our ample selection of home-baked desserts!

Come and experience the hospitality, fun, and incredible views of a Holiday on horseback. Let us show you what we do best!
